About
the artist
Dr Vibhor Gupta
Vibhor is a part time hobbyist painter who loves to experiment with colors in various mediums. His passion lies in portraits, in realism as well as in abstract realism forms. He is deeply inspired by the European contemporary masters
Vibhor was born and raised in Kota, a beautiful city in the dessert state of Rajasthan, India. Kota is famous for its beautiful frescos which have endured the wrath of time for centuries. Situated at the banks of river Chambal, the city is also gifted with some breathtaking landscapes which can stimulate any artist’s mind and soul.
After finishing his early education, Vibhor moved to the lake city of Udaipur to study medicine. Steeped in royal heritage and history, the picturesque city became the perfect backdrop for him to discover his passion for arts, in the form of graphite pencil sketching. His primary area of interest was portraits.
After practising medicine for a few years, Vibhor’s next stop was Oxford, UK where he pursued his Masters' in Business Administration. The wealth of artworks housed in museums and academic buildings in the university town inspired him to hone his passion further. Here he also started his love affair with the camera, experimenting with lights and shadows.
Vibhor was deeply influenced by his visits to the Louvre and Picasso museums in Paris, and the Rembrandt and Van Gough museums in Amsterdam in 2016.
Over the last couple of years, he has expanded his palette from acrylics to oil and water colors. Oil paints have given him the freedom and ability to expand his portfolio in portraits.
Vibhor is currently engaged in a corporate role with a cancer care provider chain in India.
